WALLENPAUPACK - Over a quarter million dollars has been allocated in the Wallenpaupack Area School District budget to hire four, armed School Resource Officers in time for the 2013-2014 school year.

The District has begun advertising for a Director of School Security. Once in place, the Director would assist administrators with interviewing and hiring of the three additional officers.

Recently, the Wallenpaupack North Primary School welcomed retired Petty Officer Patrick Brown of the United States Coast Guard.

During his career, he was stationed in North Carolina, New York and Oregon. His visit with all Kindergarten classes culminated a study of the Coast Guard which was highlighted in the book May Day! May Day!

His visit also aligned with part of the Career Awareness curriculum. REGION- Due to an overabundance of caution, Lackawanna College closed its Scranton Campus as well as its four satellite centers as of 1:30 p.m., April 17, due to a threat that was made against the College that day.
