Saturday, Jan. 26,  the Buckhorns traveled to Clarks Summit to take on the Abington Heights Comets in an afternoon game and it didn’t take long for the #1 ranked team to take control of the contest. Abington jumped out to a 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, and did not let up through out the rest of the game.

The second quarter saw a few highlights from the Bucks including a quick steal by J.J. Borges in the first minute, but the Comets kept the pressure on and limited the scoring of the visitors to just ten points in the second eight minutes. Steve Hyduchak hit a nice turn-around jumper with 1:42 left before intermission, but the Buckhorns went into the locker room trailing by 17 — 31-14.

After the half-time break things didn’t change much for Wallenpaupack as they had trouble finding the bottom of the basket and did not score their first point until Hyduchak hit a free throw at the 3:57 mark.

Richard Palazzi knocked down an eight footer and Borges connected from the line a couple of times and at the end of three quarters the game was out of reach for ‘Paupack down 22-44.

In the fourth Borges drove hard to the rim and laid one in but that was at the 5:58 mark and too little too late for the Bucks to rally any kind of a comeback. The Comets took the victory, 64-30.

Wallenpaupack falls to 1-2 in the second half and 8-11 overall.

Hyduchak led the Bucks with 12 points and Borges and Palazzi both chipped in eight a piece.
