The Uphill String Band will offer another in its series of Square Dances on Saturday, May 3, at Grace Episcopal Church, Ninth St., Honesdale, beginning at 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm.


The Uphill String Band will offer another in its series of Square Dances on Saturday, May 3, at Grace Episcopal Church, Ninth St., Honesdale, beginning at 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm.

The band began the monthly events to benefit a variety of groups and organizations. The dance on May 3 will raise funds to assist boys from Scout Troop #1 attend the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base this summer.

A large number of boys from the area will be flying to Florida for a seven-eight day adventure in extreme aquatics. Located in Islamorada and on Summerland Key, 75 miles south of Miami in the Florida Keys.

Members of the band have been performing together in the area for 10 years. They include Jim Sampson on harmonica and call; Judy Trudgen, fiddle and mandolin; Donna Lee Gregor and Dan Verbeck, guitars; Joe Davis, bass; Jeanne Wasman, banjo; and Kathryn Box, caller.

Admission is $5 per person, $10 for a family. Refreshments will be available as well.

“Come to dance, or just to enjoy a great evening out,” organizers said.
