After the overwhelming success of Hawley’s First Fridays in 2007, the fun resumes in 2008 as Hawley’s downtown business district brings “the indoors out” this spring for more fun, activities and events on Friday, May 2.

Businesses in downtown Hawley will stay open late, most until 8:30 pm or later. Activities planned for First Friday include something for everyone from art gallery wine and cheese receptions to a classic car show. Visitors can also enjoy raffles, live music, and new for 2008, a food sampling dubbed “A Taste of Hawley.”

According to Jeanne Genzlinger of the Settlers Inn, many of Hawley’s top restaurants will participate in the Taste of Hawley food sampling. Visitors to Hawley will have the opportunity to explore some of Hawley’s best restaurants as they stroll through the popular Victorian town.

“We are so happy to continue the First Friday tradition,” Genzlinger said. “So many people enjoyed all that we have to offer here in Hawley last year, our business community is proud to invite visitors back for these very special nights.”

First Fridays in Hawley are sponsored by the Downtown Hawley Partnership, a committee of downtown Hawley business professionals committed to the continued success of Hawley, and will continue on the first Friday evening of each month from May through December 2008.
