A Carbondale man stole a receipt with a credit card number on it and State Police are urging anyone who used a credit card at the same store to check their accounts.

Christopher Sporer, 34, will be charged with access device fraud, theft and forgery, according to PA State Trooper Kyle Knat. Knat reports a Honesdale man made a purchase at Tobacco Road on Route 6 in Texas Township April 15. Sporer later entered the store where his wife worked and noticed a receipt near the lottery machine with the full credit card number and expiration date belonging to the Honesdale man.

Knat said Sporer took the receipt and left the store. He later used the credit card number to order tires over the phone from Kost Tire on Route 6 in Honesdale. Sporer then went to Kost and had the tires put on his truck and had an oil change done. Knat said the total cost of the purchase was $756.87.

Trooper Knat said the State Police are encouraging anyone who has made credit card purchases at Tobacco Road in the past couple of weeks to check their accounts for any invalid purchases. If any invalid purchases are noticed they are to contact Trooper Knat at the PA State Police Honesdale at 570-253-7126.
