The Pike County Bomb Squad was called to investigate what looked like an explosive device Tuesday morning in a residence on Route 507.

PA State Police Cpl. Brian M. Vennie reports construction workers found a suspicious device while working on the Drake Plaza property on Route 507 in Palmyra (P) Township at around 10:15 am, April 29. The device was about the size of a paper towel roll —12 to 15 inches long and between 1.5 and 2 inches in diameter.

Vennie said the device was wrapped in both blue and black electrical tape.

The Pike County Bomb Squad used its PAN disrupter to render the device safe.

Vennie said it was found to be full of rocks. He added it was designed to look like an improvised explosive device.

He said the investigation will be terminated because the tenant who last occupied the residence is deceased.
