Services will be held Saturday for Kathyrene Klaer Myer, known as Kitty, died on November 19, 2008 at the age of 70 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York, NY. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Gregory P. Myer, for 52 years.

She was raised in Milford, where her family’s history has been intertwined with Milford’s own for more than 300 years. She most recently was a resident of Twin Lakes where her parents, Mildred and Dr. Harvey Klaer, first built a camp over 60 years ago.

Kitty graduated from Milford High School in 1956. She was Senior Class President and valedictorian of her class. She had leading roles in several of the school plays, won the Pennsylvania essay contest and was voted Most Popular Senior Girl. In 2006, her class celebrated its 50th reunion and Kitty received a special tribute as “A Heroine Among Us.” The tribute said that although Kitty had recently faced many serious health issues “. . . she was tenacious - persistent, stubborn, steadfast and determined to live life to its fullest” Kitty was an active participant in all the family gatherings and took special joy in seeing her brood of grandchildren and the “blissful chaos” that ensued when they visited. She was a vital member of the community as owner of The Candy Cottage at Apple Valley, choir member at the Methodist Church and Treasurer of the Pike County Historical Society. She spent the last decade working at Myer and Myer, the accounting practice of her husband and son, Scott.

She is survived by her husband Gregory Myer; her children; Greg, Neil, Harvey, Ron and Scott; her grandchildren: Elizabeth, Gregory, Lucas, Aldan, Declan, Duncan, Roan, Devon, Emma, Rory, Benjamin and David; her daughters-in-law: Jane; Deborah, Nancy, Susi and Maureen; her brother Lee Klaer; her cousins David and Janet Klaer, as well as several nieces and nephews. Her extended network of family and friends traveled through the years from all over the country to visit Twin Lakes to be with Kitty and Greg and share many happy memories. Kitty relished her friends and all of her family as well as the many beloved cats and dogs that lived royally in the Myer household.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Linda Hendrian at the Milford United Methodist Church, 206 E Ann Street, Milford, PA (570-296-8080). Stroyan Funeral Home, Inc, 405 W Harford Street, Milford, PA (570-296-6811) is in charge of arrangements.
