Ski Big Bear will open on Friday, Nov. 28 at 9 am. This is the earliest Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain has opened in its 30 years of operation.

It is possible due to a combination of new snowmaking technology, a dedicated staff of snowmakers and of course our wonderful gift of early winter weather from Mother Nature.

“We have been very fortunate to have great snowmaking weather the last couple of weeks and that has given us a chance to try out some of our new equipment. Most years we start making snow right after Thanksgiving and this year we will open Thanksgiving Friday and should have most of our terrain open for Christmas week if the cold weather continues,” said Randy Schmalzle, co-owner of Recreation Management Corp., operator of Ski Big Bear. “We have been working around the clock and its hard to believe we have this much snow so early.”

This opening holiday week Ski Big Bear will offer lift tickets for $20 throughout the weekend.

Two chairlifts and one Magic Carpet lift will be open with a variety of terrain for skiers and boarders. The Snow Sports School is available for lessons and the rental shop has daily, weekend and seasonal rental packages. In addition, The Lodge will host an Indoor Craft Fair on Saturday from 12 noon -5 pm. Visit Ski Big Bear for White Friday and celebrate Thanksgiving weekend on snow.
