The Wayne County Historical Society will host an Open House at Bethel School, Berlin Township, on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 1 to 4 pm, with a special presentation at 2 pm.

Volunteers from WCHS run educational programs each summer at the historic one-room school, built about 1870, through an agreement with the Wayne County Commissioners.  The program is free to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Ashley Liptak, a graduate of Honesdale High School and Bloomsburg University and a teacher in the Social Studies Department at Wallenpaupack Area High School, will lead the special presentation — an old fashioned “Geography Bee.”

Bethel School is just a few miles from Honesdale. From Route 6 in Indian Orchard, take Route 652 East for one mile, and turn right onto Bethel School Road.  Go one mile and the school is on the left.
