Once again officials at Penn Can Speedway were forced to reschedule Friday night racing. Rain moving into the area caused the postponement of the event to this coming Tuesday. With so many rain-outs in the books, promoters Al Wilcox and Reed Miller decided to give the racers a chance by rescheduling the program Tuesday. The Xcel 600 portion of the program will be run Friday September 11th.

“We have experienced many rain-outs during the 2009 season. Point races have been affected to the point where we decided to give the teams a chance to race by rescheduling the latest rain-out to this coming Tuesday,” explains Wilcox. “Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can get another show in the books.”

With only three points shows left in the season Jeff Rudalavage has the lead in the modified division over his brother Allan, Brian Weaver, and Mike Colsten. In the late model division defending track champion Tracy Gregory is in a battle multi-time winner Bud Phillips with Alan Kellogg third. In the sportsman division four drivers are locked in another very tight race with only twenty eight points separating front man Grant Hilfiger from fourth place man Jeff Crambo. Nick Petrilak and Mike Nagel Jr. are second and third.

The super stock race will be decided between Frank Payne, Chris Strohl, and Carl Heater while Steve Deinhardt has the top hand in the pure stocks. The four cylinder race is also very tight with Nick Grist holding a slim lead over Klem Underwood, Beezer Wilkie, and Ken Underwood.

Gates will open at 5 pm with the first heat taking to the speedway at 7:15 pm. Modifieds, Late models, sportsman, super stocks, pure stocks, and four cylinders will all be in competition.

Racing will resume this Friday with the rescheduled “Legends of Penn Can” Night where we will take time and honor the past racing heroes at the speedway over the last fifty years. The evenings special attraction will be an extra distance race for the modifieds, called the “Return of the Spectacular”, honoring the memory of the late speedway promoter, Seward Rice. The entire night of action will be sponsored by Gary’s U-Pull-It.

The speedway is located on Route 171 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania just a short drive from the Binghamton and Scranton areas. Gates open at 5 pm with racing at 7:15 pm. For more information call the speedway office at 570-585-9928 or check us out on the web at www.penncan.com.
