Holy Cross at Western Wayne (Oct. 20)
The Lady ‘Cats erupted for ten goals in the 10-0 shut-out win over the visitors from Holy Cross. Western Wayne is now 12-1 on the season while Holy Cross is 4-8-1.
The goals came early and often in the contest with Charlcie Brink scoring the first just under four minutes into the contest of an assist from Courtney Kromko. Brink would add four more goals for a total of five and collected three assists.
Kristine Nilsen had two goals, Sarah Wildenstein scored once, and Jenna Claus had one. Clauss also had two assists.
Phoebe Olsommer recorded the shut-out in goal for Western Wayne and had one save.
Western Wayne at Elk Lake (Oct. 21)
After a 4-1 victory over Elk Lake the ‘Cats clinched a Lackawanna League Division II Championship.
Cody Osif scored the first goal of the game at the 11:12 mark off an assist from Danny Fernandez. Fernandez scored the second goal off an assist from Evan Decker and Osif added the third and fourth goals for Western Wayne in the second half.
C.J. Bayley recorded ten saves for the ‘Cats in the game.
Delaware Valley at North Pocono (Oct. 21)
After a scoreless first half, Delaware Valley’s Alfonso Burton knocked in the game-winner at the 13:18 mark of the second half. The Warriors are now 10-3 on the year.
Will Polatnick collected four saves for DV.
Wyoming Seminary at Delaware Valley (Oct. 21)
Wyoming Seminary jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 12:38 mark but were quickly tied at one all when Sarah Witkowski scored at the 12:00 mark off an assist from Katie Donovan. Wyoming Seminary scored twice more in the first half before eventually winning 5-2.
Eavan Matz scored the Warriors second goal off an assist from Witkowski at the 1:51 mark in the second half.
Faith Torkildsen recorded 14 saves for DV.
Honesdale at Abington Heights (Oct. 21)
Honesdale improved to 7-8 on the year after a 2-1 defeat of Abington Heights.
Brittany Cardona and Mary Martin scored the Hornets’ goals off assists from Desiraye Mack and Elly Skinner.
Katie Carton collected two saves for Honesdale.
Nanticoke at Wallenpaupack (Oct. 21)
The Lady Bucks dropped to 4-10 on the year after a 3-2 loss to Nanticoke. ‘Paupack scored the first two goals in the game from Rachel Ensslen and Elysa Kolzek but Nanticoke rallied back and scored three unanswered to earn the victory.
Wallenpaupack at Holy Redeemer (Oct.21)
Holy Redeemer took a 2-0 lead in the first half but the Bucks rallied back in the second half on goals from Jill Alderfer and Rachel Ensslen to tie the score at 2-2 before Redeemer scored the game’s final goal and won 3-2.
Evie Decker recorded 12 saves for the Bucks.
Wallenpaupack, Delaware Valley at Penn State Scranton (Oct. 20)
The Wallenpaupack Boys fell to Scranton Prep (15-46) and Holy Cross (18-41) to finish the regular season 13-9.
Delaware Valley dropped to 10-12 after losses to Prep (15-49) and Holy Cross (16-43).
The top finisher for ‘Paupack was Corey Schmalzle with a time of 18:30. DV’s top finisher was Eric Danten with a time of 18:50.
Wallenpaupack, Delaware Valley at Penn State Scranton (Oct. 21)
The Lady Bucks picked up two more wins over Holy Cross (18-36) and Scranton Prep (15-40) to finish the regular season 19-2.
Delaware Valley dropped two to Holy Cross (23-32) and Scranton Prep (20-39) to finish the season 15-7.
‘Paupack’s Taylor Maxson won the meet with a time of 20:21 on the 3.1-mile course. Kali Foy finished in third for the Bucks with a time of 21:27. Erika Maxson was fifth, Marley Miller was sixth, and Autumn Faceski was seventh.
DV’s top finisher was Rebecca Ewald who was fourth with a time of 21:47.
