A Tafton man was arrested after trying to get a prescription filled based on false information.

Oct. 23, Honesdale Borough Police arrested Hector Rivera, 33, of Tafton for Criminal Attempt to Obtain a Controlled Substance, a felony.

The charge stemmed from an investigation into Rivera attempting to obtain a prescription for Oxycodone, a Schedule II Controlled Substance, at a pharmacy in Honesdale on Sept. 29. An investigation revealed that Rivera had lied to a doctor to obtain the prescription by telling him he was not seeing any other doctors for his condition. Rivera then gave a false date of birth and address to the pharmacist while attempting to get the prescription filled.

Rivera was arraigned before Magistrate Joan Snyder and released on $5,000 bail. A court hearing has been set for Oct. 28.
