The Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau announces sign up dates for the coming season.

This annual community program is warming up with “Community Heart.” Honesdale Area Jaycees administrate this seasonal program which helps our area children enjoy a happy Christmas morning. Jaycee members work with the Wayne County Volunteer Program and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce to bring a merry Christmas to hundreds of Wayne County children.

The Bureau operates solely on donations, and depends upon the wonderful and historic generosity of the Wayne County community. Please know that every child is from Wayne County, so 100 percent of your donations stay here. Checks made payable to the Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau may be mailed to the Honesdale Area Jaycees, PO Box 583, Honesdale, PA. 18431.

If a family, organization, group, club, or even a communal gathering of friends would “Adopt A Family” for Christmas, the children of the Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau would be even better served. Rewards are mutual and the true spirit of the holiday is experienced. If a group adopts a Wayne County family, the bounty and responsibility as well as the fun and excitement is shared. It’s a really meaningful way to celebrate and share the holidays. To join your neighbors in this heart-warming community project for our children, please call or e-mail Carleen by Nov. 11 and say, “We want to adopt a family this Christmas . . . for the children . . . and for ourselves.” Carleen can be reached at 570-253-4262 or

Donations of “gently used” clothing, toys and games are gladly accepted and can be dropped off at the Armory Nov. 30 – Dec. 3, from 9 am – 3 pm. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call.

“The Honesdale Area Jaycees, Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and Wayne County Volunteer Program thank all of the amazing people in this county for their terrific support . . . every year,” organizers said.
