PPL will host a free workshop Saturday, March 5 at the Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center for front-lot residents on Lake Wallenpaupack and contractors interested in learning more about the various types of projects that can be done during the planned Lake Wallenpaupack drawdown this fall.
“We will lower the level of Lake Wallenpaupack about 5 feet more than normal this coming October to do maintenance and conduct required testing of the dam and related facilities,” said Paul Canevari, PPL’s regional community relations director for the Poconos.
“The drawdown, done every five years, also provides opportunities for our front-lot neighbors to do projects on normally inaccessible areas of PPL shoreline property, such as dredging, shoreline stabilization, and boat ramp and roadway maintenance,” he said.
“Representatives from PPL and county conservation districts will be at the workshop to help answer questions about the drawdown and review the permitting process to get approval for this kind of work.”
The workshop will be held from 9-11 a.m. in the PPL Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center, off Route 6 adjacent to Wallenpaupack Dam, 126 PPL Drive.
Attendees are asked to register by March 1 so organizers may have enough materials on hand by calling (570)251-6196 or e-mailing Kathleen Lester, Lake Wallenpaupack community relations manager, at kelester@pplweb.com.
