The Ray Willis Invitational was held last Saturday at Wyoming Valley West High School, and the Buckhorn swim team took part.

Competition was fierce as the Buckhorns swam against 15 other school districts.

Katherine Lutfy placed fourth, overall in the girls 100 breaststroke, with a final time of 1:17.30; earning the girls team 11 points.

The girls 200 medly relay team, made up of Kaela Vanderhoof, swimming back, Sam Rhatigan, swimming fly, Katherine Lutfy, swimming breast, and Natasha Beskovoyne, swimming free, came in 12th, which earned the girls team two points. Overall, the girls team finished 13th.

Although the boys team swam hard, they did not place.

"This meet was a learning experience for my kids" said coach Kelly Derrick.

"They were able to swim against schools they normally wouldn't compete against until districts. Everyone did their best, and brought their times down- one (Mason Gallick) by 20 seconds!"

The Bucks' next meet is against Abington Heights, where the swim team will continue to bring their times down in hopes of making it to districts.
