On Thursday, Jan. 27, James Heller, 30, of Hazelton, Pa. was charged with two counts of Robbery and one count of Theft by unlawful Taking for the Robbery of the Wachovia Bank in Matamoras on Jan. 26. 


On Thursday, Jan. 27, James Heller, 30, of Hazelton, Pa. was charged with two counts of Robbery and one count of Theft by unlawful Taking for the Robbery of the Wachovia Bank in Matamoras on Jan. 26.  
A multi-state (Pa., N.J.) manhunt was conducted including agencies from the Pennsylvania State Police, Detectives from the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office, New Jersey State Police, Pennsylvania State Parole, Sparta Police Department.
Heller was taken into custody after a brief car chase by the Pennsylvania State Police near Hazelton.
Heller awaits extradition back to Pike County from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility where he will be arraigned by Magistrate Deborah Fischer.
The Eastern Pike Regional Police Department was dispatched at about 12:30 p.m., Jan. 26, to the Wachovia Bank for a bank robbery that had just occurred.
The suspect walked into the bank, located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Westfall Township and told the teller, "give me all the bills, this is a robbery".  No weapon was seen or mentioned. The total stolen was over $8,000, said Chief Chad Stewart.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6’00”, blonde hair, blue eyes, wearing a hooded sweatshirt.  The suspect left in a green Mustang in an unknown direction. A surveillance photo from the bank security system was released to the media.
