For many years, 525 Church Street in Hawley was a restaurant location. Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 9, free hot soup and bread will be offered to anyone, served every week. “Soup for the Soul” will be open from 6 to 8 p.m.
Soup for the Soul is a ministry of Wallenpaupack Free Methodist Church, and offered at “The Hub,” the outreach location for the church at the corner of Church Street and Penn Avenue.
Ann Considine, who is coordinating Soup for the Soul, said that everyone is welcome, of any age- any one who would like to come in and enjoy the warmth and have some soup and bread. Volunteers will be making the soup and serving it.
“We know there are families in need out there,” she said. For now they will keep it to two hours, but if the number of interested people warrants, they may consider expanding the time of operation.
No reservations are needed and there is no cost. All ages are welcome. If anyone would like to help as a volunteer, they are welcome to contact Considine at (570)352-2280.
