On Sunday, Jan. 27 Honesdale Borough Police arrested Sonja Johannes age 36 of White Mills for theft.


On Sunday, Jan. 27 Honesdale Borough Police arrested Sonja Johannes age 36 of White Mills for theft.
Police were notified that Johannes was observed on Jan. 20 stealing the donation container for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) that was on display at the Town House Diner. She was stopped by an employee at the restaurant as she was allegedly stealing the container.
Video surveillance allegedly depicted Johannes first stealing money from the container and then stealing the whole container by concealing it in her coat.
Johnannes was arrested at a residence in White Mills on Jan. 27. She was arraigned before District Judge Mikulak, failed to post $2,000 bail and was incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility.
