Although they were down several team members, the Bucks put up a good fight against the Scranton Sea Knights when they swam against them last Thursday.


Although they were down several team members, the Bucks put up a good fight against the Scranton Sea Knights when they swam against them last Thursday.

Even though they came in first place 10 times, they ultimately fell to the Sea Knights in their closest meet of the season 194-113.

The girls 200 Medley Relay team, made up of Kaela Vanderhoof (back), Katherine Lutfy (breast), Baileigh Vanderhoof (fly), and Samantha Rhatigan (free) came in first against the Sea Knights.

The boys 200 Medley Relay team, consisting of Brandon Denniston swimming back, Patrick Keane swimming breast, Michael Inglesby swimming fly, and Nicholas Denniston swimming free, came in second.

Kaela Vanderhoof and Brandon Denniston swam in the 200 Freestyle. Kaela came in first and Brandon third.

In the 200 IM, Baileigh Vanderhoof, once again dominated for the girls, and Nick Denniston came in fourth for the boys.

Sam Rhatigan came in first against the Sea Knights in the 50 free, and Val Christiansen came in a quick fourth for the girls team. 

In the 100 Butterfly, Rhatigan swam into second place for the girls. Mike Inglesby came in first for the boys with Kyler Chern coming in second.

Danielle Viola swam into third place for the girls in the 100 freestyle, while Mike Inglesby came in first.

Both the girls (K. Vanderhoof, Lutfy, Rhatigan, & B. Vanderhoof) and boys (B. Denniston, Keane, N. Denniston, & Inglesby) 200 Free Relay teams came in first place.

In their first time swimming in the event, Katherine Lutfy came in second in the 100 Backstroke for the girls, and Nick Denniston came in fourth for the boys.

 In the 100 Breaststroke, Baileigh Vanderhoof and Katherine Lutfy swept first and second, and Danielle Viola came in fourth. On the boys side, Pat Keane came in third, and Mason Gallick finished a close fourth.

The next time the Bucks compete, it will be at Districts held at the Wilkes-Barre CYC on March 4th and 5th.

Competition begins at 6 pm on both days; the spectator area opens at 4.
