The Wallenpaupack Area South Elementary School will be filled with the sounds  of a rockin’ school day when the fourth grade presents their annual music program on Thursday February 24.
The children will sing about everyday school-time classes and activities in the humorous and clever songs from “School Daze” by Janet Gardner and “Get In the Game” by Mac Huff and John Jacobson.  The evening begins with the assembly saluting the flag and singing our National Anthem followed by the school district’s Alma Mater.  The audience will be reminded of “concert manners” when the children perform “The Concert Etiquette Rap.”
The “School Daze” songs describe the consequences of running in the halls, difficulty opening your locker, mixed messages in the cafeteria between girls and boys and pizza, working out in the gym, the dread of detention and being in a “daze” at school. A special guest speaker will provide commentary.
“Get In the Game” is a collection of ball songs:  bowling balls, soccer balls, golf balls, baseballs, basketballs, footballs and “boarding.”  An  introduction will be read by Rachael Tirjan and Karlee Mongiello.   In the song “Havin’ a Ball” the speakers are Bianca Ortalano and Peter McDermott. Our baseball players are  Connor Westberry, Cailin Campbell and Timothy Wilson and Cameron Johnson, Wesley Conklin and Stephen Shepps are the football players!  Their resident bowler speaker for “Bowling Down at Memory Lanes” is Michael Macdonough.  “You Gotta Use Your Head” has Triston Schroeder, Timothy Holzapfel and Jamie Falgie as soccer players and Robert Eberle as the goalie. Their excited golfer is Daniel Baker.  Anthony MacDonald will be “Catchin’ Some Air” as our expert skateboarder along with “boarders” Heidi Washburn, snow board and Angela Hussung, boogie board.  At the end of the song all the students will give our boarders an important reminder!!  Speaker Phoebe Cykosky sums up the entire program with her message before the final song, “I’m a Champion.”
Show time is 6:30 p.m. in the South school’s cafetorium.  Jean M. Shields, music teacher and Dr. Nancy L. Simon, principal invite everyone to the program. The snow date is Monday, February 28.
