At 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, the Wayne County Arts Alliance will present Jane Campion’s “An Angel at My Table” as part of its Director’s Cut Sunday Night Cinema series.
The 1990 film chronicles the life of the New Zealand novelist and poet Janet Frame, who was repeatedly committed tomental institutions and only escaped being given a lobotomy when her first book won a prestigious literary prize. Campion later became the second woman ever to be nominated for an Academy Award as Best Director (for the 1993 movie “The Piano”).
The “Director’s Cut” series, which runs through March 6, provides a selection of films by top directors from around the world. Showings are at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, 32 Commercial Street in Honesdale.
A donation of $5.00 perperson is suggested, to help support the activities of the Arts Alliance. The film will be preceded with a short introduction and followed by a discussion.
