The Wallenpaupack Area junior high softball team remains undefeated after two close wins this past weekend.

On Friday the girls edged out Dingman-Delaware 3-2 and on Monday they held off Abington Heights in extra innings to win 8-7.

On Friday, the game came down to the final inning of play with the tying run on third but the Lady Bucks were able to hold off the Warriors from crossing the dish.

Lauren Goetz went the distance in the pitcher’s circle for the complete game victory, recording 12 Ks along the way.

Timely hitting, and some outstanding play behind the plate by catcher Kennedy Thomas who was throwing out base runners attempting to steal erases any possible runs for the Warriors.

On Monday, the girls came from behind to win in extra innings on the make-shift field set up on the high school’s turf football field.

Trailing 7-5 after five innings, the Lady Bucks plated two runs in the sixth to knot the score and eventually send the game into extra frames.

In the bottom of the eighth, Bridgette Mann led off with a single to right field and scored on an RBI game-winning double from Goetz.

Goetz picked up the win, coming in for relief of Katie Schoenagle, and went the final three innings without allowing a run while striking out five Comet batters.

Mann paced the Lady Bucks offensively with three hits, Goetz had two. Thomas, Alex Tobey, and Schoenagle all had one hit apiece.

The girls are now 4-0 on the season and play their next league game on April 27 against Honesdale.
