Get ready to meet the candidates for Wayne County Commissioner.
The Wayne Independent is proud to present a question-and-answer forum with the six candidates running for county commissioner — three each in their respective parties — in the May 17 primary election.
The forum will take place Wednesday, May 4, at 6 p.m., at the Honesdale High School auditorium.
“The newspaper’s job is to educate our readers and to give them all the information possible to make an informed decision in this very important election year,” said Michelle Hessling, publisher of The Wayne Independent. “We have had several requests from our readers — both online and in print — to host such an event.”
The forum will begin with opening statements from each candidate, then a list of questions on topics of concern in Wayne County — some possibly coming from citizens — and then end with closing statements from each candidate.
The candidates who are scheduled to appear include: For the Republican party, incumbent Wayne County Commissioner Brian Smith, Honesdale Mayor Jonathan Fritz and former Honesdale Borough Council President Ed Langendoerfer. For the Democrats, County Commissioner Wendell Kay and Jeanette Gardas are scheduled to appear.
