National Park Service Superintendent John J. Donahue has announced that U.S. Route 209, between Toms Creek Road and Little Egypt Road, will be closed beginning on May 2 to complete construction work on the new bridge over Toms Creek.
Depending on weather conditions, the project should be finished by Friday, May 27.
The work also includes the connection of the McDade Trail to the bridge; the new bridge accommodates the trail crossing over the creek.
During the closure, motorists will once again use Toms Creek Road and Little Egypt Road as a detour route around the construction site. Variable message signs are in place on U.S. Route 209 and I-80 informing motorists of the closure. Additional signs will mark the detour route.
