Plans have been announced for the fun-filled annual Holiday Open House sponsored by Highlights for Children and Boyds Mills Press.
The Holiday Open House, which is open to the public and has become a tradition for many area families, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Highlights® editorial offices at 803 Church Street in Honesdale.
“For twenty years now, we’ve opened our doors to the community in the spirit of the holiday season,” says Highlights Editor in Chief Christine French Cully. “We’re delighted that our open house has become a cherished part of so many families? holiday celebrations, and we look forward to hosting our friends and neighbors.”
The event features an array of activities, treats, entertainment, an art show, and the always-popular craft room where kids can create whatever they want with mounds of craft supplies.
The entertainment includes music, storytelling, puppetry, sing-alongs, and more. Face painting and the creation of balloon animals are planned.  Children may choose a surprise from the giant grab bag under the Christmas tree, and everyone may register for a free drawing to win special gifts.
This year’s open house does not include an on-site book sale. “We are pleased, however, to be offering a Friends and Family discount coupon for the full variety of books available on Highlights.com,” Ms. Cully said.
The editorial offices of Highlights®, Highlights High Five®, and Boyds Mills Press are located in Honesdale.  Highlights and Highlights High Five magazines go to more than two million homes, schools, libraries, and professional offices each month.
Highlights for Children Magazine was founded in Honesdale in 1946 by the late Dr. Garry Cleveland Myers and his wife Caroline Clark Myers.
