  • Tyler Paul Whitman, 18, of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, and a student at the University of Pittsburgh, died unexpectedly Friday, March 2, 2012 in Pittsburgh.
    Tyler was born in Ridge, New York, son of Charles and Sheila Wallace Whitman of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates.
    Also surviving are brothers Robert and his wife LoriAnne of North Carolina, Roger of Florida and Charlie of New Jersey: a sister Sara Ramos and her husband Carlos of New York and Sheila of Lake Ariel: maternal grandmother Helen O’Hagen Wallace: 15 nieces & nephews: numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including the Zoo Tang Clan.
    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Charles and Harriett Whitman: his maternal grandfather Thomas  Wallace.
    Tyler was a devoted son and grandson, a loving brother and friend.
    He was a 2011 graduate of Wallenpaupack High School where he was a member of the varsity
    tennis team and the National Honor Society. He was a member of the BVM Queen of Peace Church, Hawley. He was an avid snowboarder, skateboarder & musician. He was interested in computer science and an accomplished chess player. He had a passion for art and was active in MMA.
    Wake services will be held Thursday  5 to 8 p.m.  at the James Wilson Funeral Home,143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, Pa.
    The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the BVM Queen of Peace Church, Church St., Hawley, Pa.
