  • With the score knotted at two after a pair of frames in the books, the Paupack junior varsity softball team came away with an 8-6 victory over the visiting Lady Knights of Scranton on Wednesday afternoon.

In the bottom half of the second inning, the Lady Bucks crossed the dish three times on a blast to deep left field off the bat of Irene Dispenza for a stand-up double, scoring Val Christiansen, Melissa Schiller, and Julia Hessling in the process.

At the end of two complete innings, Paupack was in command 5-2.

In the third, the Lady Bucks scored once again, this time on a homerun from Maddie Cuomo who launched a shot to the fence in left to make it 6-3.

One inning later, Paupack would pad its lead when Alicia Brindle led off with a single, stole second, and was brought home on an RBI single from Katie Weist.

In the fifth, the girls in Purple scored one more time to make it 8-3 when Lauren Ingulli led off with a stand-up triple and scored on an RBI from Cuomo.

Scranton’s comeback bid fell short in the seventh, stalling with the final score at 8-6.
