Paupack’s junior varsity softball team put up three runs in the first inning, and closed out the game with North Pocono on Wednesday with a 9-6 victory over the visiting Lady Trojans.
In the first, Julia Hessling smacked a single with one out and Irene Dispenza reached on a base-knock to get things started for the Lady Bucks.
From there, Robyn Williams launched one to deep center, scoring herself, Hessling, and Dispenza for a homerun and the 3-0 advantage.
In the third, North Pocono cut the deficit to 3-1 on an RBI single off the bat of Sarah Rable, but in the bottom half of the frame the Bucks would cross the dish once more.
This time it was Alicia Brindle who led off with a double to right, and was scored on an RBI single to center from Katie Weist.
In the fifth inning, North Pocono tied the score at 4-4 on a homerun from Kylie Simons that plated three runs.
Paupack broke the tie in the bottom of the fifth frame, scoring one run when Dispenza used some heads up base running when almost caught in a rundown between third and home, safely crossing the dish.
In the sixth, the Lady Bucks added four more runs to essentially close out the contest.
Melissa Schiller led off by being hit by a pitch and eventually took second and third on passed balls.
Hessling lofted a shot to right for the sacrifice fly to score Schiller, and Weist smacked a triple to score Hessling.
Williams worked a walk and was brought home on an RBI single Alexa Aspinall.
North Pocono did cut into the deficit in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs, but when the final out was recorded the Lady Bucks had the 9-6 victory.
