The Lady Bucks cruised through the sixth annual Diamonds on the Lake junior high softball tournament this past weekend, taking down Elk Lake, Mid Valley, and Carbondale in the process.
Game One - Elk Lake
Lauren Goetz stole home with two outs in the fourth inning to break a scoreless game and the Lady Bucks rolled from there to an 8-0 victory.
Molly Mowatt had two singles and three RBI’s, while Katie Schoenagel, Sarah Witte, Brooke Stanton, and Becky Hansen all added hits.
Schoenagel pitched the complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out five.
Elk Lake came into the contest with a record of 12-2 and was leading the Northern Division.
Game Two - Mid Valley
The young Bucks spotted the Spartanettes a 2-0 lead, but came back and scored single runs in the third and fourth innings, and added three in the fifth to put the game away with a 5-2 win.
Schoenagel had a pair of hits, Goetz, Molly Jansco, Mowatt, and Nicole Pesce all reached base safely.
Witte had an outstanding put-out at home plate to hold off a late Mid Valley rally.
Goetz earned the win in the pitcher’s circle, striking out four and allowing just four hits.
Game Three - Carbondale
Carbondale scored three unearned runs in the second frame, but the Lady Bucks plated 10 runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to close out the day with a 10-3 victory.
Schoenagel and Jansco had two singles to start the scoring rallies, while Mowatt, Alyssa Watson, Stanton, Witte, and Pesce all collected hits.
Schoenagel earned the win the circle, striking out three, and allowing just three hits.
