Access Device Fraud charged

Catherine Santos, 47, of Lackawaxen, has been charged with 30 counts of Access Device Fraud (seven felonies and 23 misdemeanors) regarding use of someone else’s credit card number without the victim’s knowledge or consent.

Trooper Frank Orlando said that the incident occurred in Masthope Lake Community, Lackawaxen Township, in December 2011. The victim discovered she had numerous charges on her credit card that she did not make. Following a five month investigation, charges were filed against Santos, who police said was a neighborhood friend of the victim. Santos allegedly used the credit card number to pay several of her bills.

Charges were filed May 23 at District Court. The accused turned herself in that day and was arraigned by Magistrate Alan Cooper, who released Santos on unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing.
