Nicole Christine Smith, 22 of Wadsworth, Ohio, died May 24, 2012 in Akron City Hospital after a very courageous battle to survive the treatment of Acute Myloid Leukemia and the treatment of Graft Versus Host Disease, which she got following her bone marrow transplant.
Born on July 14, 1989, in Scranton, daughter of Gregory Smith, Newfoundland, and Jacquelyn (Marsh, formerly of Stroudsburg) Smith, of Ohio. She was the fiancé of Sean Baldwin of Wadsworth, Ohio. He was also a very faithful and wonderful caretaker for Nicole.
One of Nicole’s many sadnesses during her 22 months in the hospital was when she realized she had to give up her employment at Wadsworth Public Library, a job she loved. She was also disappointed that she would be unable to visit the family home in Lake Ariel, where she enjoyed many happy times and most of her birthday celebrations.
She is also survived by a brother, Brian K. Smith of Ohio and nephews and a niece, grandmother, Sandra Smith of Newfoundland, Nancy Hilliard of Reeders and grandfather Richard Marsh of Snydersville.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland (10415 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106-4709).
A celebration of the short and precious life will be held on June 9 at 11 a.m. at Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, 491 Roemerville Road, Greentown.
