  • Friday, Aug. 31 is still a few months away, as that is the first regular season football game for the Bucks when they will travel to Henzes Memorial stadium to take on Valley View.
This past Friday, the Bucks wrapped up spring training with the their annual Purple/White game.
Several hundred fans filled into the bleachers to  get a glimpse of next year’s squad that will take to the gridiron.
“I’m happy with the turnout, especially since there are a lot of games going on tonight from the rain-outs all week, but this is a good turnout tonight and I’m very pleased with that,” said Paupack head coach Mark “Doc” Watson.
In between quarters of live action without contact, the Bucks put on shows of strength and agility. A tire-flipping contest, tug-0-war, a Juggs Gun run-down, and a pass/punt/kick contest for the youngsters in attendance were all on the slate.
“So far, we’ve had a good week of spring practice,” said Watson.
“We’re coming off a season where we started almost all seniors and we’re coming in here with a lot of people that don’t have a lot of experience, but I’m very pleased with what we have been seeing in the spring practices.”
Last year, the Bucks closed out the regular season with a record of 7-3. They fell by one point in the Eastern Conference playoffs to Liberty.
“We have a lot of work to do and we’re going to have to have a great summer. Hopefully, the kids will buy into it and we’ll be ready to play,” said Watson.
