District 32 champion Wallenpaupack lost its opening round match-up at the Section Five Cal Ripken Tournament. Coach Chris Strong's squad was slated to play again Friday, but that contest has been postponed.

Wallenpaupack is the reigning District 32 Cal Ripken champion in the 10/11 bracket. However, the local lads aren't exactly being treated like royalty at sectionals.

Coach Chris Strong's squad opened its Section Five gold medal quest against Mountain Top and battled the host team to a 6-6 stalemate after six. Sadly for local fans, Paupack ran out of steam in extra innings and suffered a 14-6 loss.

Friday night's contest was postponed due to rain. Weather permitting, Paupack returns to action Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. The young Bucks will take on North Pocono, which also lost its opening round game.

On the Field

Paupack scored early & often en route to a 6-2 lead heading into the sixth. Mountain Top  rallied for four runs in the top half of the frame, then sealed the deal with an eight run uprising in the seventh.

Alex Pillar, Tristan Schroeder and Nate Trout paced Paupack's offensive attack. Pillar and Schroeder each ripped a pair of basehits, while Trout crushed a grand slam in the top of the second.

Tyler Wirth and Pillar each came around to score two runs. Jake Liddy also contributed a clutch hit to the cause.
