The Honesdale Branch of the First National Community Bank (FNCB) has made a donation to help Habitat for Humanity build their 17th house in Wayne County.
Habitat’s 17th house is being built in Woodledge Village, Palmyra Township for a father and his daughter. The FNCB’s Honesdale branch bank donated $500.00 to help.
Ellen Pritchard, the FNCB Community Office Manager made the presentation of the check to the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Lena Warren (president of Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County) discussed the current house under construction, the upcoming fund raising 17th Annual 5K Run on August 25, 2012; the process Habitat uses to select Partner Families; and the satisfaction volunteers have helping.
A myth some people still believe is that Habitat houses are free. The truth is Partner Families must have a housing need, have the ability/ income to pay back a no-interest loan, meet credit requirements and contribute 300 hours of sweat equity.
