Hawley Borough Council and Hawley Police Department are again hosting the National Night Out barbecue, Tuesday, August 7. The goal of National Night Out to is to raise community awareness in deterring neighborhood crime.
Hawley Police Chief Daniel Drake announced that the barbecue will be provided from 6 to 10 p.m. in front of Borough Hall. The hamburgers and trimmings are free of charge, and the public is welcome to participate.
Free literature will be available to offer tips on crime prevention. Residents are encouraged to leave their outside light on until 10 p.m. as a symbol to would-be criminals that the community is taking back their neighborhoods.
National Night Out is a nationwide observance, held on the first Tuesday of August.
