Managing Editor  The 95th annual GDS Fair starts next Tuesday, capping the summer season. The headline performer this year is Confederate Railroad, on stag Wednesday evening.?The Greene-Dreher-Sterling (GDS) Fair runs from Tuesday August 28 through Monday Labor Day, September 3. The fairgrounds are in Newfoundland, behind the South Elementary School on Route 507/191. Free parking is available in the park across the street, with a free shuttle available.?Over 5,000 agricultural exhibits, live music, amusement rides and games, demolition derbies, exhibits and a wide assortment of contests are featured.?The pay-one-price is only $5 for the first three days of the fair, and $8 for Friday, Aug. 31 through the conclusion. This ticket offers unlimited rides and free admission to most shows.?There is a $5 extra charge for the Confederate Railroad Band. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, in the arena. Confederate Railroad is a country rock band founded in 1987 in Marietta, Georgia. There is the Truck Tug-A-War on Tuesday; Diesel 4W Drive Truck Pull on Thursday; Big Rig Truck Pill and Pro Stock Tractors on Friday; Super Mega Truck Pull ($5 extra) o Sunday and Demolition Derby ($5 extra) on Monday.?There are loads of contests to enter, such a Kids’ Pedal Pull, Pie Eating, Team Milking, Baby Pageant, Youth Turkey Calling, Animal Dress-Up (livestock exhibitors only) and a Dog Show.?Don’t forget the GREAT SUNDAE GIVE-AWAY at 2 p.m., Tuesday.
