The annual Rotary Club of Hawley Winter Woolies campaign is underway through September 25. Rotary collects clean, usable winter jackets and coats for toddlers, children, teens and senior citizens and distributes them to Hawley Head Start, Wallenpaupack schools and the Hawley and Blooming Grove Senior Centers. This year there will be four collection sites: the Hawley Library, The News Eagle at Hawley Silk Mill, Theresa’s Hair Review on Keystone Street and the Honesdale National Bank – Lake Region Branch.Project Chair Melanie Tek-Visgilio stated that she expects that the 600th "woolie" will be distributed this year, the eighth year of the project."The community has been overwhelmingly generous especially during the past several years. Last year we were able to distribute 129 coats and jackets to the eight schools and senior centers and we anticipate even more in 2012," she said. They added the hair salon and bank as drop off sites for the public convenience.
