  •  Evangelist Glenn and Jessica Meldrum, who have been touring the United States since 1997 to preach the Word of God, will conduct a series of meetings in Hawley, the weekend of September 29-30. They will be the guests of New Covenant Fellowship Pentecostal Church, 29 Columbus Avenue. Jessica Meldrum is conducting a special teaching program for women, in two sessions on Saturday. Her husband will be preaching Saturday night, Sunday morning and Sunday night at the church. Senior Pastor Robert Nurnberger and Pastor Jackie Mohrmann invite the public to attend. The Meldrums serve under the banner of In His Presence Ministries and are based in Scottsdale, AZ. Glenn is ordained with the Assemblies of God and holds an MA in theology and church history from Ashland Theological Seminary. Prior to becoming an evangelist, he served 15 years as a pastor, at an urban multicultural church, a rural church and a Romanian congregation. Glenn, who was saved out of a life of drugs and alcohol, also ministers in prisons and rehab programs such as Teen Challenge and Victory Outreach. Jessica teaches women's groups and is a speaker for Christian Women‘s Clubs, a ministry aimed at presenting the reality of Christ to the unchurched. Both she and her husband have authored several books of Bible expository. “God always visits his people when they reach the point of desperation,” noted Evangelist Glenn Meldrum. He stated, “We believe our calling is to challenge the church to live holy lives through the preaching of repentance and absolute surrender to Christ. We have also been called to give ourselves to prayer – to persistently plead for the Spirit to reveal to people their spiritual poverty and need of the cross. Our deepest yearning is for God to ‘rend the heavens’ once again, shake the church and rescue the perishing.” The women’s meetings on Saturday are at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with lunch. The Saturday night and Sunday night services are at 7 p.m.; Sunday morning worship service is at 10:30 a.m. A covered dish supper follows the Sunday morning service. There is no costs for the meals; everyone is welcome. Free-will offerings will be accepted. Prayer for the sick or infirm, as well as for other needs, will be available to all. Due to the schedule, the regular 9 a.m. Sunday School will be canceled. New Covenant Fellowship is located on the hill just behind the Hawley Post Office, visible from Route 6. Reservations are needed for the Saturday luncheon or Sunday dinner. There is no charge. For more information, call the church at (570)226-2507.
