It is said that a parent never knows how long their influence will continue. And, when the parent has achieved 97 years of life, there is a good likelihood that future generations will know of the parents cherished qualities and admirable virtues. Known for her dedication to family and a continuing determination to influence three generations, the longest-living member of the Skier family, Mabel Skier, passed away Sunday morning, September 23, 2012. Born March 16,1915, in New Jersey and educated at The Dwight School in Englewood and Parsons School of Design, she was the daughter of Henry August Botjer and Alice Fuller Botjer. Married to Abe Skier of Hawley, Pennsylvania in 1939, she lived in Honesdale with her husband and their sons Henry and David, where she made her home until she passed away Sunday. Skier family members who grieve for their Mother and Grandmother are Eve & Henry Skier, Jeffrey & Johanna Skier, Aimee Skier, Dr. David & Nan Skier, Andrew & Darlene Skier, Jason Skier. Elinor, Aaron, Annie and Abe Skier remember their Great Grandmother and they will help keep her memory alive throughout their lives.
