†PAUPACK TWP.- PPLís Shuman Point Natural Area along Route 590 near Hawley will remain closed to visitors until further notice while timbering is done to help maintain a safe and healthy forested area and improve wildlife habitat.The forestry project will begin on Thursday, Oct. 4 and is expected to last several weeks. It will involve thinning a small portion of the 300-acre woodland area, as well as removing deadwood. For public safety, all hiking trails will be closed throughout the project.This activity will not affect the Beech House Creek Wildlife Refuge, which remains open to the public.Shuman Point is one of the last undeveloped areas around Lake Wallenpaupack and has been set aside by PPL for the publicís enjoyment.Members of the public who have questions about the project or nature area may call 1-877-PPL-LAKE (775-5253).
