  •  HONESDALE- A former Wayne County employee was charged Wednesday Oct. 3rd with the theft of over $11,000 in tax money.?The criminal complaint was filed Oct. 3rd by the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office against Jeannie Brooks, Prompton, alleging various crimes of theft and forgery at the PA Tax Claim Bureau office.?Wayne County District Attorney Detective Peter Hower filed these charges claiming that Brooks was employed in the Tax Claim Bureau of Wayne County and stole money there at various times throughout 2012 when it was received from Wayne County residents paying their taxes.?It is charged that Brooks fraudulently received over $11,000.00. Brooks was arraigned Oct. 3rd by Magistrate Ted Mikulak and bail was set at $50,000.00 unsecured.?Brooks is next due in court for a Central Court appearance on October 17, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Wayne County Courthouse, Honesdale.More information will be available in this Saturday's edition of The News Eagle.
