Work that is expected to have a significant impact on traffic is highlighted.
*An asterisk indicates a long-term closures.
Here’s this week’s fall driving tip: Have your vehicle’s heating and wiper systems checked to ensure they are working properly. Pennsylvania law requires you to turn on your headlights if your wipers are in use.
Exit 260B – The ramp from I-81 East to I-81 North will be closed tomorrow (Saturday) from 6 a.m. To 2 p.m. For emergency bridge deck repair. Detour will be posted.
Exit 168 (Highland Park) to Exit 159 (Nanticoke) – Sunday Northbound; Monday – Tuesday, Southbound – 8 p.m. To 5 a.m. Single Lane Closure
*Exit 188 (Dunmore/Throop) to Exit 194 (Clarks Summit) North: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts and alternating traffic patterns. This should not cause delays, but motorists are urged to use caution in the work zone.
*Exit 190 (Main Avenue) – South: The ramp from Main Avenue, Dickson City to I-81 South is closed; detour is 81 North to Exit 191B, back to 81 South. The ramp from I-81 South to Main Avenue is now utilizing the old on-ramp, so access from 81 to Main Avenue is still possible. Motorists should use extreme caution in this area.
*Exit 230 (Great Bend) New traffic patterns effective on north and south bound.
Single lane traffic. Delays should be expected. There are single lane closure on I-81 northbound from Exit 230 (Great Bend-Susquehanna) to the New York border.
There is also a single lane closure on I-81 southbound from Exit 225 (New Milford) to 219 (Gibson) for micro seal paving operations. Work should continue for next several weeks. Motorist should use caution while traveling through the area and use alternate routes. The work is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. To 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday
*Exit 20 West: (Greentown/Lake Wallenpaupack) to Exit 17 (Newfoundland/Hamlin); westbound; single lane for milling, paving and guiderail repair. NOTE: This work will continue until October 2012.
*New York: There is a significant deck rehabilitation project Interstate 84 East in New York, from the PA/NY border to NY Exit 1. This work will take place until October and delays may back up into Pennsylvania.

State road 6 (Lackawanna Trail) Dalton Boro, crack sealing Alternate lane closures between 7A.M. To 3 P.M.
• SR 107 – Main Ave – Starting on Tuesday, October 2 there will be milling and paving work beginning on Main Ave Dickson City starting at the anchor to the Mid Valley Hospital. The milling work will run from Tuesday, October 2 through Friday, October 5 from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. Paving will follow the next week. Drivers should take alternate routes as traffic will be down to a single lane throughout the construction operations. All work depends on weather conditions. The project is expected be completed by the end of October.
*SR 435 & SR 690 Moscow Borough Project – Rehabilitation of roadway – Anticipated completion, December 2012. Final paving will begin October 9-13, weather permitting.
*SR 438: Minichi Inc. will be closing SR 438 in Lackawanna Co. to replace the bridge superstructure. This is located at the Route 6/11 intersection to the intersection with SR 4009. Approx .5 miles. This will last until October 12. A detour is set up.

*SR 2039 is closed between SR 315 and SR 2020 (Jumper Road) for a bridge replacement project.
*SR 3024 (Main Street) in Moosic is closed between Spring Street and Third Street with a detour for a repair on a county bridge. This is a long term closure.

*SR 4023 (Simerell Road), Bridge Replacement with detour. Anticipated completion – November 2012
*SR 4032 Shady Lane) – the Turnpike is replacing the bridge which carries Shady Lane Road (SR 4032) over the Turnpike in Clarks Summit. The contractor will be closing the road at midnight Saturday October 13 into Sunday October 14th. The road will be open by 6am (perhaps earlier). The reason for the closing is to set beams. The detour will use PA 307, Grove Street (SR 4026) and State Street (US 6 & 11). Rain date will be Sunday night beginning and midnight into Monday.
SR 11 NB, Salem Blvd, Salem Twp: Crack Sealing, Expect lane Restrictions, Mon-Tues 7:30am-2:30pm
*SR 93 (Broad Street Project) – The Broad St. Corridor project is progressing nicely. The new updated schedule has been released showing the progression of anticipated work until the project completion in 2013. West Hazleton will see curb and sidewalks completed from St. Francis to Madison Ave, and from Winters Ave. to Diamond Ave. (right side only) this year. Hazleton will see curbs and sidewalks completed from Diamond Ave. along the shopping center all the way to East St. near the Hospital (right side only). Drainage work will continue throughout the upcoming winter months (weather permitting) along the left side of the project. We have begun the complicated work at Poplar St. and Broad St. to eliminate the existing roadway bifurcation and expect to close Poplar St. at the intersection of Broad to all traffic starting July 25th. We expect that closure to last 2 weeks. The Terrace section is starting to look like a completed project and final pavement should take place this October. Our first new traffic signals are scheduled to be installed this October and will follow along with the completed sidewalk and curb work.
*SR 1011, Pierce Street – Single lane, both directions - All traffic has been moved to the upstream half of the bridge, so crews can begin removing the existing deck on what are now the eastbound lanes. This pattern will be in place until fall of 2012 when traffic will be moved to the downstream side of the bridge.
Anticipated completion of this entire $6 Million project is May 2014. Motorists should allow extra time when travelling

*Chase Road is now closed for the box culvert replacement. The detour is Hilside Road and the project should be completed by the middle of November.
*East Center Street (County Bridge on a Township Road) – Kingston Township – Contractor will close East Center Street, (Township Road T-846) between Main Street, (Township Road T-790), and SR 309 NB at 8:00 AM. This section of East Center Street will be closed until late fall 2012. Posted detour will be in place for duration of the project; Main Street to East Franklin St to SR 309.

*SR 706 Montrose. The contractor will be starting a paving operation this coming Monday; 7/23/2012. Traffic stoppage will probably be longer than usual, because the work area will be longer. The paving operation consists of milling the existing pavement edge and replacing with fresh asphalt material. The contractor’s working hours will still be the same. This work will be eastern end of the project to the intersection of SR 29 and 706.

*SR 4043 – Contractor plans to start construction of a new bridge on SR 4043 in Wayne Co. in the Village of Sherman. The Work is set to start the week of April 16.
The work will include the building of a temporary road around the bridge. The contractor will then remove the existing structure that was mostly washed away during 2006 flooding. The new bridge is scheduled to be completed in August of 2013.

SR 6 (Deer Park Bridge) in Tunkhannock is scheduled to open by 5 p.m. Today (October
12). The $2.5 Million project began two years ago, and included a complete deck replacement as well as various other improvements to the beams and the superstructure. Between now and October 29, the contractor will have some short-term, daytime lane closures to complete some minor shoulder and guiderail repairs. However, by this afternoon, the temporary light is scheduled to be removed, and both lanes will be open to traffic.
SR 1005, Tunkhannock Township: Monday (10/15) to Friday (10/19). Pipe Trench Patching: Minor Delays 7am to 3pm
*SR 1010 Wyoming County: rebuilding the bridge on 1010 at the intersection on RT92 north toward Nicholson and Lackawanna Trail School Rd. The bridge project will last for about two years. The bridge will be build next to the old bridge. Contractor will set up equipment starting June 4, 2012. Motorist should watch for short traffic stops and use caution and reduce speed while traveling through the construction area. The old bridge will remain open during contraction
