Hawley Borough officials have announced that due to the potential problems associated with Hurricane Sandy throughout the Northeast as well as the immediate area, Hawley’s annual Halloween parade scheduled for Wednesday evening, October 31st, has been cancelled.
In a statement from Mayor Kevin Hawk, "although we are well-prepared for numerous weather-related problems in the coming days, among our primary concerns are the well-being and safety of our citizens, therefore, we regretfully have made the decision to cancel this year’s Halloween parade.
"We are inviting those parents and children who wish to do so, however, to come in costume to Bingham Park on Saturday afternoon, November 3rd at 2 p.m. For the traditional costume judging, sweet treats, and prizes." If the weather is not cooperative Saturday afternoon, the judging and festivities will take place at Borough Hall (across from Bingham Park).
