Cell phone tracking leads to arrest of theft suspect

Further details have been provided concerning the arrest of a suspect in the theft of nearly $4,000 raised in a benefit for a breast cancer victim, last summer.

The defendant, Mark Eric Icker, was arrested and arraigned May 14th, after State Police tracked down the whereabouts of his cell phone on the night in question.

Icker has a background in law enforcement and was working as a security guard at the time [...]

Local history exhibit set at Riverview Inn

A grand exhibit of local Matamoras and Westfall Township history will be on display at the Riverview Inn, Saturday, June 1, from 2 to 5 p.m.

On display will be several hundred photographs and artifacts depicting past businesses, events, people, landmarks, as well as photos of past students and graduates of the Matamoras School System- which graduated its last class in 1956.

Man accused of stealing cancer benefit money

State Police, Honesdale have identified the man they accuse of stealing $4,000 raised at a dinner to help a breast cancer patient.

According to Trooper Keith Brislin, Mark Erik Icker, 23, of Maple Acre Road, Sterling Township, broke into John's Italian Restaurant during the night of August 24-25. The burglary occurred at 12:55 a.m.

WALLENPAUPACK -The proposed $63.2 million budget and tax rates for Wallenpaupack Area School District were presented May 13, with the smallest tax increase request in four years.

The Sculpted Ice Works Factory Tour and Ice Harvest Museum opened last Memorial Day in Lakeville. They will be celebrating their one year anniversary Saturday May 25 and have music, food, live ice carving and a tour of the facility.

Hawley firefighters are resourceful.

Why use water when you can just put the fire out with your boots?

In Hawley Fire Department's report for April 2013 given to Council, it lists a brush fire on April 20th.

The fire was reported at 3:55 p.m. along the tracks on Paupack Street.

Fire personnel stomped out the fire with their boots, and then the fire trucks returned to station.
