    The Dorflinger Glass M
useum and Gift Shop at the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary will be open Saturday, November 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. with no admission fee.
This will be the last chance to see the 2012 special exhibit, "Dorflinger’s Variety of Vases: From Plain to Richly Cut," a display of over 30 cut glass vases all made by the C. Dorflinger & Sons glass factory in White Mills. This exhibit features vases from the collections of Karen and Harry Parker and Barbara and William Meek.
Visitors can also take advantage of the annual end of season sale in the gift shop. Everything in the shop is 20 percent off (excluding books and previously discounted items). Proceeds from gift shop sales support the operation of the museum.
The restored 1867 Glassworker’s House, operated by the museum, also offers free admission over the weekend. It will be open from noon to 3 p.m. each day.
The holiday theme at the worker’s house will be "The Day Before Christmas: Making German Hand-Pressed Cookie Decoration." During the late 19th century, families would make their own holiday tree decorations by pressing cookie dough into German hand-carved wooden molds to create ornaments in a variety of shapes and patterns. Visitors to the Glass Workers House will see the process for making these unique, handcrafted ornaments and decorations using a collection of antique German wooden molds.
The house is located about one-half mile away from the museum, on Charles Street, in the village of White Mills.
