  •  State Police host car safety checkup, Nov. 19

  •  TAFTON - Pa. State police Dunmore will conduct four separate Car Seat Checkup events in the region, including one at the Tafton Fire Company, Monday, Nov. 19th.
    Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., stop by and have a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician inspect and re-install child passenger seats. There is no charge and appointments are not needed.
    Tafton Fire Company is located at 235 State Route 507.
    In addition, Car Seat Checkups are planned as follows:
    • Tuesday Nov. 20, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. State Police Dunmore headquarters garage, 85 Keystone Industrial Park, Dunmore, Pa.
    • Wednesday Nov. 21, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., Company B, 55th Brigade, PA National Guard Armory, 3003 State Route 492 New Milford, Susquehanna County, Pa.
    • Tuesday Nov. 27, 1:30- 4:30 p.m., State Police Dunmore headquarters garage, 85 Keystone Industrial Park, Dunmore, Pa.
    Pennsylvania Title 75 of the PA Vehicle Code requires that children under 4 years of age to use an approved child restraint device. Failure to do so is a primary offense. Children 4 to under 8 years of age must use a booster seat. The fine for failure to follow this statute is $75 plus court costs. It is also a primary offense for drivers and passengers 8 to 18 years of age not to be restrained anywhere in the vehicle, punishable by a $10 fine.
