November is the month Wallenpaupack Historical Society (WHS) honors a group of veterans from one of America's conflicts. This year they are focusing on the Civil War, during its one 150th anniversary.
Among the WHS members is Dr. Alberta Finch Weber, who has made the Civil War practice of medicine one of her specialties. Dr. Weber will present a program on Civil War Medicine on Wednesday, November 21st, at 1 p.m. at the PPL Environmental Learning Center. The public is invited.
Following the program and a brief business meeting, the WHS will draw the winning raffle ticket for the 2012 Quilt, made by the" Friends with a Heart".
Each year, this group of dedicated quilters design and create an intricate hand-quilted quilt which is then donated to WHS as a fundraiser.
"It is a popular project; many of our summer visitors look forward to its appearance," said Audrey Graybill. It is particularly a profitable fund-raiser for WHS. This year’s efforts earned more than $2,600. WHS thanks everyone who took a chance on the quilt to support our mission.
