PLEASANT MOUNT- Every community has people in it who are always willing to help. Whether it’s building hoop houses or putting a new roof on a garage, the Burns family just seems to be the kind of family who show up to lend a hand when help is needed.
Family patriarch, Bob Burns has a lot of skills. He’s a welder, a horse trainer, a farrier, a father of five, and a good friend. He shoes horses for a living and his hands are important to the continued operation on his business, and the support of his family. Unfortunately, Bob recently injured both hands in a reloading accident. He will need surgery that they hope will repair the damage.
The doctor does not take insurance and requires payment before the operation, so we are holding this fundraiser to help a family who has helped us all so much.
Please come and join them for a delicious spaghetti dinner, good conversation, fun and fellowship and support a hardworking local family as well. The dinner is at the Pleasant Mount Fire Hall, Route 371 in the village of Pleasant Mount, Wayne County. Come anytime between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
From Honesdale take Route 670 north through Bethany, to Pleasant Mount. Route 670 meets Route 371; turn left (west) to the fire hall. Pleasant Mount is approximately 20 miles from Honesdale.
The cost is adults $8, kids 4-12 $5, 3 and under free. If you can’t make the dinner, but still want to help, donations can be made to the Bob Burns Medical Fund at the Honesdale National Bank.
The Pleasant Mount Community Center is holding their annual Christmas in the Village on the same day from 10 a.m. -3 p.m., so there is sure to be lots of fun for the whole family. Enjoy a visit with Santa, browse crafts in the gym, enter a soup and chili cook off, or just taste test.
