SCRATON - Lackawanna College held commencement ceremonies for nearly 400 students on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. In the Lackawanna College Student Union Gymnasium on the college’s Scranton campus. The Class of 2013 represents the largest graduating class in school history.

HAWLEY - Hawley Fire Department answered 14 calls for service in May 2013, reported Deputy Fire Chief Eugene E. Krause.

Four of these turned out to be caused by cooking food, with the smoke setting off alarms. Three of them were at Eagle Apartments, 522 Spring Street. Fire officials spoke to the building maintenance manager about the sensitivity of the alarms. Amusement rides provided by AEB Amusements, games and food are planned. There is no charge to enter the grounds. Unlimited rides will be available for $13, with a wrist band provided.
