HAWLEY- A car crashed into a telephone pole on Ridge Avenue in Hawley, early Monday afternoon Dec. 3. Hawley Assistant Fire Chief Keith Corey said when the department arrived the woman driver was alert and conscious, but she was bleeding.
The extent of her condition is unknown Corey said, because "our main concern was getting her out with the electric lines over" her car. Corey said he did not know who the woman was, but did recognize her car. The cause of the crash is being investigated by State Police. The woman was taken to Community Medical Center in Scranton.
PPL arrived soon after the crash and began work on fixing the damage. Corey said the power was out briefly so PPL could do the appropriate repairs. A police report has not yet been issued.
